When Wayfair contacted me about their latest campaign called #mysleepstyle, My Tribe and I had just been discussing sleep and toddlers and how we're literally so exhausted some days that an IV of caffeine wouldn't even cut it. Like too tired to even blink.

Everyone had different suggestions, you know? Because we're all girls that have been raised by completely different mommas, our kids are all kinds of different, and our homes are all kinds of different. And let me tell you something else that I've learned - sometimes you can try every single trick. And sometimes? They're still sitting there/standing there/laying there wide awake/talking/laughing/crying/giggling/kicking/jumping/just not even ever going to bed. Those are the nights that you just have to call your mom because your eyes are like doing this bugging out thing and if you gritted your jaw any tighter, teeth would literally fall out.

You know what I'm talking about.

And you guys - studies are now linking sleep problems as toddlers to behavior problems in five year olds. Sleep is important.

For the babies AND the mommas.

Wayfair wanted to know all about how The General goes to sleep. I've found - like a lot of people - that consistency is key. His bedtime is seven p.m. during the school year because we start getting ready at 5:30 a.m. or so. Sometimes, I have to even wake him up. Those are the crappy days. Before bed, he gets a bath, and he gets books. He normally picks the same three books: Opposites, Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day, and a tractor book from Nana Nan. And then we rock. And rock. And sometimes rock some more. (And let me tell you a something about me rocking my almost-two-year-old to sleep -- he's not going to be this little forever. And as long as he'll let me? I'll rock him. It's one of the most peaceful parts of my day.)

Here's where The General currently sleeps. We just moved, so it's not completely finished -- go ahead and overlook the reasoning behind having a pitchfork next to your toddler's bed. And let's overlook how many times it's literally scared the holy bejeezus out of me in the middle of the night.
I love you like a baby that sleeps through the night!

xoxo, B.
