The “Sober Curious” trend is growing among younger people. As people start to focus more on their health and the unwanted effects of alcohol. Younger people who do drink are doing it less often, and not drinking as much at a time.
Still others don’t like the taste of alcohol, but still want to be included in celebratory occasions.
Whatever your reasons are for not imbibing , the following are very simple recipes you can make with minimal ingredients.

Ever since I cut alcohol out of my life, I’ve been living on water and coffee. Every once in awhile I get a craving for a special drink, to celebrate. I however don’t want to go out and spend a fortune on ingredients to make a complicated mocktail.
I’ve compiled a list of easy recipes for mocktails that I like to make from time to time. Whip one up and serve in a fancy glass
Sparkling Grape Refresher– Makes 4 Servings
- 4 cups White Grape Juice
- 2 cups sparkling water (like Topo Chico) or lemon lime soda
- Ice
- Lime for serving
In a large pitcher combine all ingredients and mix well. Chill until ready to serve.
Ginger Pear Virgin Mojito– Makes 2 Servings
- 2 cups Pear Juice
- 1 cup Ginger Beer
- Lime cut into wedges
- Mint leaves
In 2 tall glasses place a few mint leaves into the bottom and muddle (basically smashing the leaves a bit so the mint oils infuse your drink)
Add in crushed ice
Pour in Pear juice and top with the Ginger beer. Stir to combine and garnish with a lime wedge.
Tropical Seltzer– Makes 2 Servings
- 1 cup Cranberry juice
- 1 cup Pineapple juice
- Splash of Coconut Cream
- 1 cup Seltzer or sparkling water like Topo Chico
- Crushed ice
In a pitcher mix together the juices. Add in the coconut cream and top with seltzer. Chill until ready to serve. Serve over crushed ice.
Cranberry Seltzer– Makes 2 Servings
- 2 cups Cranberry juice
- 1 cup Sparkling water or tonic water
- Lime wedges for garnish
Mix juice and seltzer together and serve with a lime wedge.
Virgin Mojito– Makes 2 Servings
- Juice of 3 limes
- Topo Chico Sparkling water
- Mint leaves
- 1 tbsp sugar
- Lime cut into wedges
In 2 tall glasses, add in mint leave and sugar divided ( 1/2 Tbsp per glass). Muddle mint leaves and sugar with spoon. You can also do this with a mortar and pestle, and then add to the bottom of the glasses. Add half the lime juice to each glass and top with soda water and crushed ice. Serve garnished with a lime wedge

Virgin Mimosa– Makes one serving
- 1/2 Cup Orange Juice (pulp free)
- 1/2 Cup Topo Chico
In a tall glass mix together the sparkling water and the orange juice, stir to combine.
Watermelon Spritzer -Makes one serving
- 1 1/4th cup diced watermelon
- 1/2 cup Topo Chico lime
- Mint leaves to garnish
- Ice cubes
Blend up the watermelon chunks into a juice, and pour into a glass with ice. Top with Topo Chico Lime sparkling water and garnish with a mint sprig.
Kombucha Fizz -Makes one serving
- 8 oz Kombucha
- 1/2 Cup Pomegrante juice
Combine Kombucha and Pomme juice and pour over ice. Enjoy
I hope I have inspired you to make a fun and fruity NA beverage for your next gathering. I would serve any of these at a ladies brunch or BBQ. Or if you are feeling frisky whip one up yourself tonight.
