Spring is a time of renewal, birth and growth. Animals are having babies, trees are budding and flowers start to bloom. Which got me thinking about how I can focus on this season to make new goals and resolutions. I typically think of goal setting and resolutions at New Year’s and then forget it for the rest of the year. This year I want to try something different though, and use Spring as a “Springboard” to creating and meeting new goals.
Spring Cleaning
One of my goals is to spring clean, check out my post on the ultimate spring cleaning to do list
There is something about throwing the windows open and letting fresh air into your home, that gets you in the mood to clean and refresh.
I have been working on de-cluttering my home this winter, and I want to carry this over into spring. I have already gone through my closet and donated a ton of clothes to charity. It feels so good.
Getting More Active
I’m also focusing on being a healthier version of myself and have been going back to the gym. Not only do I want to lose the last few pounds but I want to build up a stronger, healthier body. I’m not only going to the gym for this, but adding in day hikes with my Weimaraner Ernie. He loves to get out of the house and go on adventures with us.

Spring is a great time to get outside. The weather is warming up and the days are longer.
We will go to Tanner Park, here in Salt Lake City and walk alongside the creek in the off leash dog area. Usually Ernie is too chicken to get in water over his legs but he runs and plays and has a great time.
This park is a hidden gem for off leash dog parks in Utah.
Growing
Spring is the time to start seeds in your home, so that plants will be big enough to put outside on Mother’s Day. Here in northern Utah it is not uncommon for a late season snow, last year it snowed on Mother’s day! So we wait until mothers day weekend before planting out our tender starts.
This year I am growing a variety of heirloom tomatoes, peppers, lettuce, carrots, and squash.
Several years ago we built raised beds, for a vegetable garden, and rotate what we plant in them each year. I typically wait until May to clean out the garden so that local pollinators can have protection from the weather until then.

De-Winterize
We have a small trailer that we bought a few years ago for camping. We always swore we would never get one, but here we are. Our trailer has enough room to fit 4 people in beds or 6 with the table folded down.
This year we have a list of things that need to be repaired on the trailer before we take it out for the season. First we have to de-winterize the system, then repair the screen door that Ernie tore out of it in a fit of panic. (Weimaraners are quirky, IYKYK). Next we need to replace the doorknob on the bathroom inside the trailer.
I have already started to plan our first outing of the season. I love to read blogs or pull out my camping cookbooks and plan out meals. When camping I love to cook, and like to make more elevated food, rather than just your typical hot dogs, etc. I love the blog Fresh off the Grid, or Men with the Pot videos for ASMR like cooking in the woods.

Learn a New Skill
This year I am going to focus more on my photography skills. I want to get better at capturing those moments on camera. Spring brings blooms and new life, which brings outdoor photography lessons! I already have a lesson booked for March. I am so excited to be able to get out and use my camera. What better way to capture memories.

Getting Outside to enjoy Nature
This spring I am definitely motivated to get outside more. There is something about disconnecting from the world and soaking in the great outdoors that can elevate your spirit.
My one of my favorite outdoor activities is camping and hiking. I am blessed to live in such a beautiful state. We have a plethora of camping areas within a 2 hour drive of SLC, not to mention 5 National Parks in the state.
When we aren’t traveling out of state you can find us out camping somewhere in this beautiful state of Utah.
I hope this inspires you to think about ways to set goals this spring season. Let me know in the comments what goals you have for this season.
